"The rescue operation was dubbed Jaque - which means "check," as in checkmate, in Spanish - and was indicative of how deeply Colombia's military intelligence has been able to infiltrate the FARC's top hierarchy, the secretariat, in recent months. A government mole had been able to convince those bosses to transfer Betancourt and the 14 other hostages to the encampment of the FARC's new No. 1 leader, Alfonso Cano. Under the yoke of a FARC unit led by Comandante Cesar, the group made its way to a smaller camp belonging to a friendly NGO. "They tied our hands and feet," Betancourt later told Colombian radio, describing how the rebels had transported the hostages, who thought they were going to be part of a prisoner exchange. When the hostages saw other guerrillas waiting to receive them, their hearts sank. But those guerrillas turned out to be Colombian government commandos in disguise. The rebel commanders were subdued and the 15 hostages were then whisked to freedom on helicopters piloted by government intelligence agents. "We are with the army, you are free," the pilots told the hostages, Betancourt recalled. Declared a jubilant Defense Minister Santos: "This operation ... has no precedent" in Colombia..."

avea chef de vorba, de a-si impartasi lumii fericirea si uimirea ca un astfel de "milagro" s-a putut intimpla ...

astfel a putut afla despre copiii ei, despre suportul lumii intregi, ... ceea ce a salvat-o in momentele de mare slabiciune psihica ...

Si daca nu ma insel, guvernul columbian are ca consilier militar un general de brigada israelian, fost comandat al diviziei Gaza.

Chiar acum am vazut la TV ca operatzia a fost preparata de un team israelian in fruntea caruia s-a aflat Israel Ziv, general maior, fostul responsabil de operatziuni al Zahalului si care a condus divizia Gaza si impreuna cu el inca doi generali brigadieri + oameni din Shin Bet si Mossad.

"En réalité, a-t-on appris jeudi à Washington, les services secrets des États-Unis étaient très directement et fortement impliqués dans toute l'opération. L'ambassadeur William Brownfield et l'amiral James Stavridis, commandant des forces américaines dans la région, "ont directement et de manière très étroite participé à la planification" de la libération des otages, a reconnu l'ambassadeur mercredi soir sur CNN. Le président Bush a été tenu informé tout du long, en particulier dans la phase finale qui durait depuis deux semaines, ont révélé de hauts responsables américains cités jeudi par le New York Times. Il est donc loin d'être impensable que la Maison-Blanche ait signalé l'imminence de l'opération à McCain, lui permettant d'être au bon endroit au bon moment....
Selon des sources des services de renseignement à Washington, les Américains avaient repéré depuis plusieurs mois déjà les trois otages américains. Ils ont surtout intercepté, grâce à leurs écoutes électroniques, les communications au sein de la direction des Farc, et entre celle-ci et le chef de la guérilla qui détenait les otages, Gerardo Antonio Aguilar Ramirez, alias "Cesar", qui communiquait à partir de la ville de Villavicencia. Les services américains ont fourni à l'armée colombienne les images satellitaires, les écoutes électroniques et une "assistance technique" d'une nature non précisée qui ont rendu possible l'action audacieuse et sans bavures du commando colombien ..."

Din cate am citit Farc este in descompunere dupa ce numarul 2 a fost curatzat.
