"Callas's voice was and remains controversial;
it bothered and disturbed as many as it thrilled and inspired.
The Italian critic Rodolfo Celletti stated, "The timbre of Callas's voice, considered purely as sound, was essentially ugly... yet I really believe that part of her appeal was precisely due to this fact. Why? because for all its natural lack of varnish, velvet and richness, this voice could acquire such distinctive colours and timbres as to be unforgettable."
In compensation for the lack of classical beauty of sound, Callas was able to change the timbre of the voice and her vocal color and weight at will and according to the role she was singing, essentially giving each character her own individual voice.
Maestro Carlo Maria Giulini has described the appeal of Callas's voice:
"It is very difficult to speak of the voice of Callas. Her voice was a very special instrument. Something happens sometimes with string instruments—violin, viola, cello—where the first moment you listen to the sound of this instrument, the first feeling is a bit strange sometimes. But after just a few minutes, when you get used to, when you become friends with this kind of sound, then the sound becomes a magical quality.
This was Callas."

ei, si toate mergeau de minune, era frumoasa, adorata, adulata, pe toate scenele lumii, iubita de sotul ei milionar care era si innebunit dupa opera,
si iata ca veni ceasul rau si mi ti se indragosti superbitatea asta de broscoiul ala de Onassis, ... de dragul lui s-a lasat de opera (tipul nu prea stia ce e aia), voia un copil cu el, voia musai sa-i fie nevasta, ... iar netotul a parasit-o pentru mitziita aia de Bouvier-Kennedy ...
ei si totusi, pina la urma, inainte de a muri, el s-a intors la ea clandestin, ... spre fericirea ei, micutzul ei triumf, ... ca tare l-a iubit.
Aria "Addio del Passato", din "Traviata" este aria mea favorita, ... inca din copilarie, plingeam pina adormeam.
iar Maria Callas parca s-a nascut pentru rolul Violetei, vocea ei vulnerabila cu care isi cinta fericirea fragila si tragica ...

Eu am un CD cu Barbierul din Sevilla - cu M. C. Luigi Alva si Tito Gobbi.
Ce CD... o minunatzie.
Din pacate nu exista vreun fragment pe youtube, insa sant alet cateva du MC si Gobbi din Tosca, Rigoletto etc.
Roy pe youtube este o inregistrare a Mariei Callas cantand Rossina. In concert a cantat si printesa Elboli.
Asa cum putin stiu ca Maria Calla a fost si o extraordinara Isolde.
Intr`adevar a fost o Isolde extraoridnara.
Iat-o aici, interpretind

doar citeva din expresiile faciale ale Divinei Callas ...
Callas stia sa atraga, dar sa si indeparteze barbatii. Mai greu era cu elefantii ...
